Waiting for You in the City (一座城，在等你) by Jiu Yue Xi 玖月晞 ~ Chapter 53

Meng Yan Chen asks Xu Qin: “What are you doing here?”

Xu Qin suddenly lifts up her head.

Meng Yan Chen asks: “When did you come home?”

“I just arrived?”

“I’m asking Xiao Yi Xiao to play basketball together, let’s go.”

Xu Qin looks at both elders.

Meng Yan Chen: “Let’s go ah, he misses you too.”

Xu Qin thinks about Song Yan, she is worried. She sends him a message. “What are you doing?”

He replies quickly: “In the museum.”

He sends another message: “Don’t worry. Accompany your parent to have dinner then you could come out.”

“What about you?”

“I would find a place. Don’t worry.”

Xu Qin frowns. Nearby except the museum, library, planetarium, there is a garden and research organization building. There is no restaurant around.

She is still worried. Xiao Yi XIao suddenly comes over and pats her head; “What are you thinking about? Let’s go.”

Xu Qin puts her phone back on her pocket.

It starts to snow heavily.

The dinner is still not ready. Xiao Yi Xiao and friends are playing in the living room.

Fu Wen Ying goes downstair and chats with the juniors for a while. All along she doesn’t talk to Xu Qin. Luckily no one notices it. Xu QIn feels somehow thankful that there are many people at home.

But she is worried. She keeps on looking at the window. It’s snowing.

She doesn’t know what Song Yan does right now? Is he still in the museum?

The time she is thinking, her gaze meets Jiang Ru’s gaze. He is watching her.

When he is noticed, he immediately goes to her side and asks: “In the past you said that you have someone that you like. Is he a firefighter?”

“……” Xu Qin says: “How could you know too?”

“Xiao Yi Xiao told me.”

Meng Yan Chen lifts up his eyes and looks at Xu Qin. “You are leaving?”

Xu Qin nods.

Meng Yan Chen doesn’t ask too much, he says: “Go.”

He holds her hand for a while. “Go.”

Fu Wen Ying’s face changes, she wants to say something more.

But Xiao Yi Xiao speaks up first; “Qin Qin, if you have matter to do, just leave first. Let’s gather up next day.”

Jiang Yu also says: “Go, when you are free, let’s drink together.”

Xu Qin doesn’t have mood to greet anyone, she just leaves quickly.

Meng Yan Chen watches her leaving. He asks his friends to have dinner at home, simply because he wants her to be more natural.

Meng Yan Chen looks at the message for a long time, then he turns it off.

Xu Qin runs outside quickly. It’s not a big mansion but she feels like she is running a kilometer. She runs toward the exit. Song Yan is standing on the road side and smoking.

The sky is dark.

Her tears start to gather.

He clearly is a strong and insolent man, he is not a fearful man.

Xu Qin’s tears fall down.

She runs toward him.

He is biting his cigarette, he frowns and pats the snow on his hair. He turns his head when he hears footsteps.

She just gets into his embrace, she holds him too.

Song Yan is surprised: “Why are you out so quickly?”

She doesn’t lift up her head, she adjust her voice: “We eat dinner early, we are done.”

“Really?” He looks at her. He wants to see her face clearly but she is unwilling to lift it up. She just holds him tighter and doesn’t want to let him go.

He smiles “What is it?”

She buries her face on his chest and says: “I don’t want to come over here again.”

He is startled: “Did something happen?”

“No, I’m not happy here.” She says, “I keep on thinking about you.”

“You are thinking about me, so you are unhappy?” He teases her.

She just laughs and her tears still fall down. She wipes her tears on his chest.

Then she just let him go. She still doesn’t let him see her face. “Let’s go home, let’s go home. It’s too cold.” She hops and holds his hand.

But he knows that his hands are cold so he withdraws his hand. He takes his phone out to call taxi.

She never feels his hands to be this cold.

Xu Qin says nothing, she lifts up her head and looks at him. She tries to smile.

She doesn’t ask him what did he see at the museum.

Till they are on the taxi, she just sits closer to him. She leans her head on his shoulder.

The time the taxi has moved for a while, his clothes are still cold.

She holds his arm and lets his hands to be placed between her thigh.

Song Yan is startled and wants to withdraw it. but Xu Qin stops him. She says: “You are not allowed to move, if you move, I’ll be angry.”

She is serious.

He doesn’t move and stays quiet for a while.

Both of them are quiet, they both seem to think of something.

After a while, his hands move, he strokes her leg and teases: “Don’t you afraid that I would take advantage of you.”

“Then I’ll take advantage of you too.” She says.

He smiles.

“Song Yan?”

“Em?”

“Let’s go to the seafood restaurant that we went that night, okay?”

He looks at her.

“The dinner before was not tasty, it’s not tasty at all.”

“Okay.” He says.
